Château Monconseil Gazin

Château Monconseil Gazin

Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux - Red

  • Elaboration:

First vineyard in Blaye to be independently audited and certified under the TERRA VITIS regime for sustainable viticulture. No chemicals - organic fertilizers only, treatments based on observation; encouragement of biodiversity and inter-row vegetation. Bud pruning, green harvesting and de-leafing for optimal fruit/leaf canopy balance where appropriate. Harvesting at optimal ripeness.

  • Blend: Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Malbec (10%)
  • Maturation: 12 months maturation in French oak barrels (25% new), bottled at the estate.
  • Terroir:

By Plassac, one of the best sites on the limestone escarpment of Blaye; clay/limestone soils and stony subsoil give excellent drainage and deep rooting systems; South and South-West facing slopes ensure optimal ripening and maturity.

  • Best to drink: Drink 2 to 8 years.
  • Tasting Notes:

« There’s a nice impact of bright cherry fruit on the palate, good immediate freshness and juice though it doesn’t linger too long and there’s only a slight presence of tannins which offer a bit of support at the end.»

Jane Anson - Decanter Magazine June 2021

    Serve at 17-18°C.
